Barbie has joined forces with South African jewellery designer Jenna Clifford to create a bespoke jewellery collection to mark two milestones: Barbie’s 65th anniversary and Jenna Clifford’s 65th birthday, bringing together two legacies focused on creativity and empowerment.

    A Partnership Rooted in Empowerment

The Barbie x Jenna Clifford collection combines Barbie’s long-standing focus on inclusivity with Clifford’s established expertise in bespoke jewellery design. The collection is designed to inspire individuality and ambition while reflecting a commitment to authentic self-expression. Chanelle and Summer, Clifford’s daughters, played key roles in the design process, bringing a fresh perspective that complements their mother’s classic approach.

    Craftsmanship and Ethical Sourcing

The limited-edition collection reflects meticulous craftsmanship and a dedication to sustainability. Drawing inspiration from Jenna Clifford’s signature carré diamond settings and over six decades of design experience, each piece blends contemporary and timeless elements.

Crafted in South Africa from responsibly sourced materials, the collection aligns with ethical and environmentally conscious practices. By showcasing local artisans’ talents, it celebrates both sustainable jewellery-making and the rich design heritage of a family-owned business.

    A Generational Collaboration

This collection signifies a new chapter for Jenna Clifford’s business. With guidance from their mother, Chanelle and Summer contributed to the design process, adding a modern sensibility while preserving the core values of the brand. This generational collaboration underscores the enduring legacy of the Clifford family in the jewellery industry, marking a transition to a second generation of designers.

    Availability and Exclusivity

The collection, produced in small quantities, is available as made-to-order pieces through Jenna Clifford’s online store and three design studios.

Following a private preview at Clifford’s Morningside studio, collectors and enthusiasts can now acquire these distinctive designs.

    Implications for the Jewellery Industry

This partnership highlights the value of collaborations between established brands and bespoke jewellery designers. By combining storytelling, ethical production, and craftsmanship, the Barbie x Jenna Clifford collection demonstrates how such initiatives can resonate with diverse audiences. For professional jewellers, it offers an example of how to integrate meaningful narratives and sustainable practices into their work, creating designs that appeal across generations.
