Two rings and a pendant valued at R1.35 million were stolen from a jewellery store in Alfred Mall, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town.

The theft, which took place on 22 February, involved four suspects—three women and one man—who are now the subject of a police investigation.

    Details of the Incident

According to police spokeswoman Anelisiwe Manyana, the suspects entered the store at approximately 1pm, pretending to be interested in purchasing jewellery. They requested assistance from a shop employee, trying on some pieces before leaving the store.

However, the four individuals returned shortly after, once again requesting to see certain items. It was during this second visit that the jewellery went missing. Manyana explained:

“Information reveals that three unknown women and an unknown man entered a jewellery store at a premises in Alfred Mall, V&A Waterfront at around 1pm on 22 February. It’s reported they enquired about the products in store and requested to look at the jewellery which one of the ladies tried on. After they were done, they left the store.

“The four didn’t go for long as they came back and requested to look again at the jewellery, and this is when the expensive rings and pendant went missing. A few minutes later, they returned while the shop assistant was still busy putting the jewellery back. Then one of the ladies requested to see a pendant again. He assisted her, and when they were done, they left the store.”*

The shop assistant later noticed the jewellery was missing and alerted security, but the suspects had already left.

    Police Appeal for Information

The Table Bay police are seeking assistance from the public to identify the suspects. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is urged to contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Abrahams, on 082 522 2572 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
